Dedo Koleda, the Bulgarian equivalent of Santa Claus, arrived at the Bezmer military airbase on a Su-25 attack aircraft instead of a sleigh. He chose this mode of transport due to the lack of snow: it would have been problematic to get there in such weather.
His faithful companion Snejanka, reminiscent of our Snegurochka, also arrived on an attack aircraft. Dozens of children were eagerly awaiting the fairytale characters at the military airfield.
The Su-25 is an armored subsonic attack aircraft developed in the USSR and manufactured in Russia. It is designed to provide direct support to ground forces in the air and destroy small targets on the ground.
The aircraft's design is intended for operation by both trained pilots and less experienced pilots.
The Su-25 aircraft is also known as the "Rook." According to one version, this nickname was given to it by the pilots who were the first to operate the Su-25. The pilots saw a resemblance to a rook in the shape of the aircraft: it has an unusual wide wing and thick engine nacelles located on the sides of the fuselage.
Earlier, video footage of the combat work of a mixed squadron of Su-25SM3 and Su-25SM attack aircraft was published online. The modernized aircraft demonstrated greater accuracy in their actions thanks to the installation of a modern fire control system with more advanced ballistic computers.
