In 2025, Novosibirsk State University plans to update its strategic project "Digital Future," which was launched as part of the "Priority-2030" program. The goal of the project is to create a center that will train specialists and conduct research in the field of unmanned transport and production automation.
The new working title of the project is "Smart Drones and Industrial AI."
The goal of the updated project is to create a world-class center for training personnel, conducting research, and implementing AI technologies to solve the problems of unmanned transport and production automation.
In the coming years, the university intends to strengthen its position in various fields, including artificial intelligence.
Among the promising areas are AI, neural networks and machine learning, medical and biotechnologies, synchrotron-neutron research, space instrumentation, photonics, and developments for the oil and gas industry. Laboratories, scientific-educational and innovation centers are already functioning in all of these areas.
In addition, there is a possibility of opening new laboratories in these areas, including on the basis of the infrastructure of the new NSU university campus.
Earlier, the Chelyabinsk Radio Plant "Polet" developed a comprehensive zonal radar system for protecting cities from drone attacks. It operates on the basis of a drone detection and suppression system called "Sphere." The system is capable of detecting and suppressing various types of drones.
