According to Autostat analysts, sales of new cars in Russia fell significantly in mid-December. From December 9 to 15, 25.2 thousand cars were sold, which is 16.5% less compared to the figures for the first week of the month. In the first half of December, total sales amounted to 55.3 thousand cars.
Maxim Kadakov, editor-in-chief of Za Rulem magazine, previously suggested that the results of December would not exceed November's results, and current data confirm his forecast. In November, about 120 thousand cars were sold.
The decline in sales is due to both seasonal fluctuations and economic factors. The fall in purchasing activity in an environment of economic instability is holding back the traditional December rush.
