According to the Marine Hydrophysical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, about 3 thousand tons of fuel oil leaked as a result of the crash of two tankers in the Kerch Strait. The head of the republic, Sergei Aksenov, said that the Crimean coastline was not contaminated.

On behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a working group has been created, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev, which will deal with the elimination of the consequences of the fuel spill.

Employees of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation have already begun seizing documents from companies that carried out the technical inspection of tankers, and are planning to interrogate ship owners in Perm and St. Petersburg.

There were 12 crew members on board the "Volgoneft-212". Unfortunately, the 23-year-old watchman from Astrakhan could not be saved. The remaining crew members were hospitalized. The tanker was heading from the port of Saratov to the port of "Kavkaz" since November 10.

The second tanker, "Volgoneft-239", left the port of Azov on November 16 and was also heading to the port of "Kavkaz". As a result of the storm, the ship suffered a rupture of the bow 8 km from the coast. The crew of 14 people was evacuated from the stern, which drifted 10 meters from the port of "Taman".

Both tankers were inspected for suitability for the transport of dangerous goods in July this year.
