The National Automobile Union (NAS) has sent an appeal to Rosstandart and to the management of AvtoVAZ, represented by Maxim Sokolov, demanding the recall of 600,000 vehicles produced at the plant since 2022 that are not equipped with airbags. This was reported by the Telegram channel Mash.
AvtoVAZ may recall about 600,000 unsafe "Granta", "Vesta", and "Niva" vehicles that are currently on the road. Without airbags, ABS, ESP, and other important features.
Until June 2022, the company produced cars equipped with everything necessary. However, after the introduction of sanctions, it became necessary to sell cars without foreign components.
Currently, the shortage has become less noticeable, and airbags and air conditioners, electronic stability control, and anti-lock braking systems are available again. But cars without these elements are still on the road, posing a threat to both drivers and pedestrians, the National Automobile Union noted.
According to Anton Shaparin, head of NAS, installing key safety systems on cars:
- will improve driver safety on the roads;
- will show that AvtoVAZ is a company that thinks about people and cares about them.
Earlier, AvtoVAZ reported that Lada car prices will increase in 2025. The cost of cars will remain the same until January 1. However, after that, the manufacturer will have to form the price of cars depending on the market situation.
The company also plans to implement significant changes in the production process. In particular, the production of Lada Granta sedans will be carried out on the line previously intended for the assembly of Lada Niva cars.
