The Strela-10 anti-aircraft missile system is a highly accurate weapon system designed to engage aerial targets. The Ministry of Defense has shown footage of an aerial target being intercepted.
Consisting of a turret and a control vehicle, the system provides surveillance of armed objects and releases a missile on the target with high accuracy.
The SAM system is designed to control airspace using an optoelectronic system and destroy targets at low altitudes. It was adopted by the Soviet Army in 1976.
Ammunition for the system includes 9M333 anti-aircraft guided missiles (SAMs) manufactured by the Kalashnikov concern. The advantage of the missile is the presence of a homing head. It operates in three modes: infrared, photocontrast, and jamming. This is the third generation of guided weapons, which is ready for use and does not depend on the operator after launch.
