Details have emerged about the production of a minivan that will start in Belarus at the "Brestmash" plant, owned by MAZ. This model is the Forthing Lingzhi, produced by Dongfeng Motor. It is a "reincarnation" of the Mitsubishi Delica Space Gear, which was popular in the 90s.
Interestingly, the cars assembled in Brest will bear their own BMG brand.
The Forthing Lingzhi was launched in 2020. The car's dimensions are 5145 mm in length, 1720 mm in width, and 1970 mm in height. The wheelbase is 3000 mm.
The Forthing Lingzhi can be equipped with either an electric power plant with a capacity of 82 to 204 hp, or a gasoline engine with a volume of 1.6 liters and a capacity of 122 hp, or 2.0 liters and a capacity of 133 hp.
The drive is rear. The gearbox can be either manual or automatic.
The fact that a Chinese copy of the Space Gear will be made at "Brestmash" became known from today's press release from the Ministry of Industry of the Republic. It refers to the donation of a car to the administration of the Brest region - in honor of the 85th anniversary of the region.
There is no information yet about the characteristics of the Forthing Lingzhi, which will be localized in Belarus.
Earlier, there was information that the "Brestmash" plant plans to produce seven-seater cars in two versions: with an internal combustion engine and an electric motor.
This autumn, Belarus began deliveries of MAZ-281120 "Lira" minibuses, created on the basis of "Gazelle". These cars are also produced at the Brest-based "Brestmash" plant.
