Robot dogs from the "Laboratory of New Products" may become full-fledged employees of major Moscow construction sites. Following a presentation at the Forum of Innovation Centers (FIC-2024) in early December and field tests, the robots were recommended for inclusion in the Register of Innovative Solutions of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Development of the City of Moscow.
The robot dogs were tested for this purpose at the construction site of the International Medical Cluster Foundation in Moscow. In dust, dirt, rain, and snow, they performed a number of functions:
- monitored the absence of helmets, vests, and gloves on workers to prevent safety violations. During testing, the robot dog passed all points of the specified route. At the same time, computer vision algorithms from VisionLabs showed a classification accuracy of 99.2% for the presence of a helmet, 97.0% for the presence of a vest, and 92.1% for the presence of gloves;
- identified unauthorized persons on the site and identified fallen people;
- recognized construction-related and extraneous objects left on the construction site;
The creators of the robot dogs from the "Laboratory of New Products" claim that their development saves on stationary video surveillance costs and will help monitor work at any site, even where a human cannot set foot. In addition, robot dogs, when equipped with additional sensors, can determine the integrity, temperature, vibration of equipment, instrument readings, and leakage of heat and gases at a construction site or an operating enterprise.
