Росатом к 2030 году нарастит объем производства углеродного волокна в 15 раз

The company's composite division will increase the strength of carbon fibers from 4.9 to 7 GPa

By 2030, Rosatom's composite division will increase the strength of domestically produced carbon fibers from 4.9 to 7 gigapascals (GPa), which will allow for an almost 15-fold increase in their production volume. This was announced by Alexey Dub, First Deputy General Director of JSC "Rosatom Nauka", during his speech at the IV Congress of Young Scientists on the federal territory of Sirius.

The company sees great potential in this direction, Dub noted at the Congress of Young Scientists in Sirius.

The main such fiber at the moment has a strength of 4.9 GPa. By 2030, within the framework of this production, we will reach 7 GPa, and production volumes will increase approximately 15-fold.
Alexey Dub, First Deputy General Director of JSC «Rosatom Nauka»

The research center of Rosatom's composite division is engaged in research in the field of obtaining PAN precursors (polyacrylonitrile fibers and tows), polymer binders, carbon fibers, and composite materials based on them.

It is a key link in the development of promising technologies for the production of polymer composite materials and carbon fibers based on them.

The materials it develops are used in the automotive industry, the space industry, aviation, and other high-tech fields. Elements and wings of the tail unit of the Russian narrow-body medium-range passenger aircraft MC-21 are made from carbon fiber produced by Rosatom, among other things.
