A powerful flare close to class X — M9.4 was recorded on the Sun

It was recorded on November 25 of this year at 10:42 Moscow time

The Institute of Applied Geophysics (IPG) has detected a solar flare close in power to class X. This was reported by the press service of the university.

On November 25, at 10:42 Moscow time, an M9.4 (N21E89) flare with a duration of 34 minutes was recorded in the X-ray range.

In addition, on November 25 of this year, experts recorded two more flares — M1.8 and M1.1.

It is worth noting that solar flares are divided into five classes according to their power: A, B, C, M and X. Each transition to the next letter increases the X-ray radiation by a factor of 10. The most powerful X-class flares can cause radio interference and long magnetic storms across the Earth.

Earlier www1.ru reported that a powerful flare of the highest class occurred on the Sun.
