The Clinic of Plastic Surgery of the Clinical Center for Health Sciences at the I.M. Sechenov Moscow State Medical University has begun using a thulium laser for plastic surgeries, the university's press service reported.
Doctors performed about 10 facial surgeries to test the new technology. These included blepharoplasty, mid-face lift, and endoscopic plastic surgery.
The dissection of tissues we work with is almost bloodless, they are not burned, and sufficient hemostasis is ensured. As a result, the trauma is minimal and everything heals well. Such operations can be performed safely and virtually bloodlessly with a thulium laser compared to other methods where the surgeon uses \"classic\" instruments.
Doctors also used the thulium laser for body surgeries (abdominoplasty and breast augmentation). The scalpel was used only to dissect the skin, and dissection was performed with a laser instead of a coagulator and other cutting instruments.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that a program for selecting materials in plastic surgery was created in Samara.
