The advanced fifth-generation engine for operational and tactical aviation 117S, presented at the Airshow China air show in Zhuhai, China, may be attractive for modern aircraft, considering fuel efficiency and increased thrust. This was stated by Alexey Nestere, Deputy General Director of the United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of Rostec) for Sales and Service.
According to him, from the point of view of all its technical characteristics, the 177S is a fifth-generation engine. The main advantages are the improvement of individual characteristics that characterize new opportunities for the aircraft.
This is increased thrust with the same dimensions, it gives up to 14.5 tons of thrust. At the same time, the resource has increased threefold, that is, compared to its predecessors, the engine life has been significantly increased.
In addition, fuel consumption is reduced in all modes by up to 7% and, accordingly, a greater flight range becomes possible thanks to new technical solutions.
