AvtoVAZ has temporarily suspended the production of all Niva Legend models and half of the Niva Travel versions. According to information from the company's official website, the classic three-door Niva Legend is no longer produced in any of its variants, including the Bronto modification. The five-door Niva Travel currently has three trim levels available out of six, which also indicates a temporary halt in the production of several modifications.
The reason for the suspension may be related to the transition to a new model year and the modernization of models. One of the possible upgrades includes the return of airbags to the standard configuration. It is expected that the Niva Legend will have one driver's airbag in the steering wheel, while the Niva Travel will again have two front airbags. The updated cars are planned to be available in the fourth quarter and will likely cost more.
There are also discussions about unifying the elements of the Niva Legend and Niva Travel, for example, steering knuckles, which will reduce production costs and increase maintainability. In addition, it is possible to equip SUVs with engines from front-wheel drive LADA models, which will be another step towards unifying the model range and reducing production costs.
