Konstantin Timofeev, First Deputy General Director of the United Aircraft Corporation, spoke about the key areas for improving the domestic passenger aircraft. First of all, the aircraft will undergo modernization of the landing gear.
The following tasks are currently prioritized: modernization of the landing gear, transition to lightweight materials in a number of aircraft systems, modernization of passenger seats to reduce weight and increase passenger comfort.
The discussion of the update plans took place with the participation of employees of the innovative design center. In the near future, experts will study the technical data and conduct a comparative analysis of technologies created by design bureaus.
As a reminder, in 2022, Boeing and Airbus decided to stop selling and servicing their aircraft in Russia. In response, Russian aircraft manufacturers turned to previously developed projects, such as the MC-21 and Tu-214.
Currently, large-scale work is underway to update and create new aircraft. The projects are planned to be completed by the end of 2026. Thanks to new equipment and facilities, UAC will be able to establish mass production of civil aircraft and ensure the construction of 20 Tu-214 aircraft annually.
