The legendary "Valdai-45" has a number of differences from the Chinese Foton EST1846 truck. Domestically produced trucks are much better adapted to operating conditions in Russia.

Maxim Kadakov, editor-in-chief of the magazine "Za Rulem", visited the production facility on the territory of the Gorky Automobile Plant and witnessed the assembly of a new line of trucks. He clearly demonstrated why the domestic "Valdai-45" is better than the Chinese Foton.

One of the main advantages of the "Valdai-45" compared to the Chinese truck is its thorough anti-gravel treatment. In Nizhny Novgorod, the frame and chassis elements are coated with a special compound at an early stage, which protects not only the fasteners but also the connecting elements.

In China, anti-gravel is applied to an almost assembled car with a cab and attachments, so these trucks are less adapted to an aggressive environment. Another significant aspect is the sealing of all joints and sharp corners in the cab with mastic. This is not available on vehicles intended for the Chinese market.

The third advantage is that Russian trucks are more comfortable and warmer. The domestic plant has developed and implemented thick materials for noise and vibration isolation of all internal panels of the cab.

In addition, the finished "Valdai-45" passes through a stand that checks the wheel alignment angles. This operation is also not performed in China.

The "Valdai-45" is a new Russian main tractor unit, which is produced by the company "Nizhny Novgorod Trucks" under the brand "Valdai" since 2023. The truck first debuted at the Comtrans-2023 exhibition. The tractor is a modification of the Foton Auman EST1846 model adapted for the Russian market.

The truck is capable of working with many semi-trailers and can operate as part of a road train with a total weight of up to 45 tons. It is called the main competitor of another Russian machine with similar characteristics - the K5 from KAMAZ.

As a reminder, under the hood of the "Valdai-45" is a powerful turbo diesel engine Cummins ISG12, which develops power up to 470 horsepower. Drivers appreciate the convenience of the ZF TraXon automatic transmission and the cab, created on the model of the Mercedes-Benz Actros, in which you can move freely in full growth.
