Панацеей от дронов не станет? Эффективность активной защиты «Арена-М» на Т-90М вызвала вопросы

Combat Vehicles on the Battlefield Need Active Protection Systems Specifically Against UAVs

Materials from the "Uralvagonzavod" workshops have been circulating online, showing a T-90M tank equipped with the "Arena-M" active protection system, as well as a T-73B3 tank turret with prepared mounts for the components of this APS. However, the effectiveness of the system in modern combat raises questions, noted the Telegram channel "Military Informant".

The authors emphasized that at the current stage of threat development, armored vehicles already need an active protection system primarily to protect against drones — a classic APS for defense against ATGMs and RPGs was relevant a few years ago.

If this "Arena-M" is not adapted to engage drones, and visually, judging by the location of the mortars, it is not, then its effectiveness on the modern battlefield, teeming with kamikaze drones, will be highly questionable. If it is adapted after all, then this is a step in the right direction.
