RCC wants to ban the distribution of active SIM cards on online platforms if this is done by persons not authorized by operators

Roskomnadzor intends to introduce a ban on the sale of active SIM cards on online platforms if they are distributed by persons not authorized by telecom operators. This was announced by Oleg Terlyakov, Deputy Head of Roskomnadzor, at the "Spectrum" forum.

According to Terlyakov, the department is currently working on this issue and plans to introduce relevant changes to the legislation. He emphasized the need to ban the distribution of active SIM cards on marketplaces if they are not sold by authorized telecom operators.

Terlyakov also touched upon the problem of using virtual PBXs and SIM boxes for criminal purposes, noting that this area requires regulation. He proposed to establish a ban and introduce liability for owners of virtual PBXs for transferring unidentified calls from the data network to the telephone network.
