В Томске разработали технологию очистки воды при помощи плазмы

Scientists created a microwave plasma torch to implement the project

Tomsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (TSUACE) has developed a method for purifying water from soluble nitrogen compounds. This was reported by the press service of Tomsk Polytechnic University.

Experts tested the development in laboratory conditions, and its efficiency is 99.9%. The technology allows assimilating nitrogen compounds and converting them into less active chemical forms.

In the developed technology, we repeat the chemical processes carried out by bacteria, without using these bacteria. This is possible due to the creation of a low-temperature plasma from gas, in the environment of which nitrite ions are formed from atmospheric gases, which "neutralize" ammonium ions from water.

To create a low-temperature plasma by generating a magnetic field, scientists created a microwave plasma torch. The new method allows you to purify water in five minutes.

The technology is planned to be tested on the treatment of wastewater from livestock enterprises, the food and processing industry.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that activated carbon and microorganisms will help purify water in Russia.
