In the northwestern Pacific Ocean, Russian and Chinese warships conducted live firing exercises as part of anti-submarine warfare and air defense drills. The Russian Navy and Chinese Navy forces began separate exercises and patrols in the Asia-Pacific region after participating in a joint large-scale naval exercise "Northern/Interaction - 2024".
According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, the large anti-submarine ships "Admiral Panteleev" and "Admiral Tributs" of the Pacific Fleet are involved in the joint naval patrol from the Russian side. The Naval Forces of the People's Liberation Army of China are represented by the destroyers "Xining" and "Wuxi", the frigate "Linyi" and the integrated supply ship "Taihu".
According to the patrol plan, the ship detachment in the designated area searched for a submarine of a mock enemy and practiced tasks to pursue it. To destroy the "enemy" submarine, the crews of Russian ships used RBU-6000 rocket launchers. During the next episode of the exercises, the crews of the Russian Navy and Chinese Navy ships practiced tasks of repelling an air attack by the "enemy". To repel a missile attack, Russian sailors fired from the Kinzhal shipborne anti-aircraft missile system. The ships also used passive jamming systems to withdraw forces from a missile strike.
RBU-6000 is a Soviet and Russian naval 213-mm rocket launcher with twelve guides, which fires ammunition with a total weight of more than 1,300 kilograms at a target in one salvo. The flight speed of the installation's ammunition is 300 meters per second, and they can reach targets at a distance of up to 5,230 meters. This rocket launcher also works with the Russian military on land: it is installed, in particular, on the MT-LB chassis.
Russian "Kinzhal" missiles, in turn, are unique in that no air defense system in the world is capable of shooting down their hypersonic missiles. They can maneuver in flight, changing their trajectory vertically and horizontally, and are difficult for radars to detect. The "Kinzhal" complex has the following characteristics:
- maximum range of destruction — 2000-3000 kilometers;
- maximum speed — 10-12 Mach;
- circular probable deviation (CEP) — 1 meter;
- warhead type — in conventional or nuclear configuration;
- warhead weight — 500 kg;
- guidance — INS with the possibility of correction from the GLONASS system, AWACS;
- engine — solid propellant rocket engine.
