In September, the Russian military received four thousand "Gadfly" unmanned aerial vehicles with machine vision. They have implemented a machine vision function, as well as a multi-stage protection system and a self-destruction system.
The drone is equipped with a special algorithm that allows it to capture contrasting pixels and seeks to collide with them.
It works like this: when the operator sees the target through the goggles, he presses a button on the remote control, and after that the aircraft flies there autonomously.
The "Gadfly" is not affected by third-party electronic warfare equipment, nor is it affected by radio visibility disruption. Thus, the combat task is performed more efficiently.
Characteristics of the "Gadfly" UAV:
- Size — 10 inches (diagonally)
- Weight — 500 gr
- Speed — up to 150 km/h
- Flight time — up to 10 minutes
- Flight range — up to 1 km
- Camera — HD camera with a 120-degree viewing angle
- Video transmitter — 5.8 GHz
- Video receiver — built into FPV goggles
