Russian authorities plan to invest over 150 billion rubles in the development of the Northern Sea Route between 2025 and 2027. This is stated in the explanatory note to the draft federal budget.
Budget allocations for the development of the Northern Sea Route will amount to 55.3 billion rubles in 2025, almost 51.6 billion rubles in 2026, and 49.2 billion rubles in 2027.
Russia is actively developing the Northern Sea Route, involving more and more countries in its use. As a result, it has transformed from a local transport route into the Great Northern Sea Route — a global route that competes with the Suez Canal.
