The ZSU-23-4 "Shilka" self-propelled anti-aircraft gun has been modernized for the army of Azerbaijan. The updated complex was first shown at the ADEX 2024 international exhibition in Baku (Azerbaijan).
The main feature of the improved installation is a new radar that can detect targets with a radar cross-section of 1 m² at a distance of 20 km.
The radar is capable of tracking up to 100 targets at a distance of 15 km, the detection range of targets with a cross-section of 0.01 m² is 7 km.
The vehicle also received a COAPS-L electro-optical system and a digital fire control system, which is designed for visual identification of targets. The Shilka's equipment includes a GPS-based navigation system.
The standard auxiliary power unit based on a gas turbine engine was replaced with a modern Lombardini LDW1404 diesel engine. The cannon armament was supplemented with a jammer to protect the ZU-23-4 from kamikaze drones. Among the military, the "Shilka" is sometimes called "Shaitan-arba" (devil's cart).
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Russian military received the Obereg body armor. It was tested with a burst from a Pecheneg machine gun, but it did not receive a through penetration.
