There are many solutions, but their quality and functionality are not always at a high level

Vladimir Lavrov, CEO of Softline Group, speaking at the international forum of digital technologies in the field of transport and logistics "Digital Transportation-2024", spoke about the need to regulate domestic solutions. His speech at the plenary session "Digital Russian Constructor. We will build for you" concerned not only the prospects, but also the challenges for the Russian IT industry.

According to him, there are three key areas. First, Russian developers should actively use AI and machine learning where new platforms and solutions are being implemented, and apply low-code and no-code approaches. Then customers, including clients, will be able to use hyperautomation and total automation of business processes.

Second, cooperation between developers of domestic software and new opportunities to demonstrate their developments abroad. Russia can successfully demonstrate and export its experience in countering sanctions from global digital players such as Microsoft.

The third key issue is related to market consolidation. According to Lavrov, a "giant number" of entities are currently registered in the register of domestic software, and this scatters the resources of the sphere.

A regulatory role is needed here. From our point of view, the regulatory role of the state. We recently observed the example of China, which removed almost 200 car manufacturers from the market in order to bring some order to its auto industry and concentrate on resources and on some more technological and serious industries. Similar elements will probably happen with us as well. Because this consumer and entrepreneurial trend will not work as effectively as we would like.

Lavrov also touched upon the financial block. He noted that "the participation of institutional state investors would be very useful", and such state support would be very welcome.
