According to PJSC UAC, the S.P. Gorbunov Kazan Aviation Plant has already prepared a site for the high-tech machine. From the beginning of 2025, it will be able to process aircraft components made of aluminum alloys up to 24 meters in size.
The launch of this equipment will significantly reduce the time for manufacturing long parts used in the construction of all aircraft in the Tupolev JSC line, which is especially important for fulfilling our large-scale task of increasing the serial production of Tu-214.
UAC notes that the unique portal 5-axis milling machining center with a vacuum table is a domestic development. However, its manufacturer and detailed technical characteristics are not disclosed.
Earlier in June 2024, Konstantin Timofeev at a meeting with students said that currently "12 aircraft in various stages of readiness" are in work on the Tu-214 import substitution project. The conveyor line for their production has already been contracted.
