Atommash has shown what the blanks for the reactor vessel of the second unit of the El Dabaa NPP, which is being built by the parent state corporation Rosatom, look like. In the line of equipment for NPPs for export, the St. Petersburg enterprise has not only them, but also nuclear reactors with in-core devices and an upper block, sets of steam generators, RCPH housings, MCT, equipment for active and passive nuclear reactor protection systems, and pressure compensators.
The blanks for this project were cast at the metallurgical plant of the Machine-Building Division in St. Petersburg and delivered to the production complex in Volgodonsk, where they will be assembled into a reactor vessel. The blanks have passed incoming inspection and are at the initial stages of the production cycle. The shells of the reactor vessel nozzle zone and the flange are undergoing machining for subsequent anti-corrosion surfacing.
At the same time, the plant continues to manufacture reactor equipment for the first unit of the NPP: Atommash specialists are preparing for the assembly and welding of the steam generator vessel nozzles and the assembly of blanks into half-shells. Also, for the El Dabaa NPP, the subsidiary Petrozavodskmash is engaged in the manufacture of housings for the main circulation pump units (MCPU), which ensure the circulation of the coolant in the primary circuit of the reactor, clad pipes, components of the main circulation pipeline (MCP), and a pressure compensator.
El Dabaa NPP is a four-unit NPP being built by Rosatom in Egypt. Each of its units has a capacity of 1200 MW. This is the largest NPP on the entire African continent, as well as the first NPP with VVER-1200 reactors of the innovative generation 3+ on the African continent, and the first NPP being built in Egypt. The facility is scheduled to be commissioned in 2028, and it incorporates safety, reliability, and seismic resistance up to 9 points.
