Russia's central test site on the Novaya Zemlya archipelago is ready to resume nuclear weapons testing. This was announced by the head of the main test site of Russia, Rear Admiral Andrei Sinitsyn.
According to him, the facility's personnel are also in a state of full readiness.
The test site is fully ready to resume full-scale testing activities. The laboratory and testing base is ready. If the command comes, we will begin testing at any moment.
Sinitsyn noted that to ensure the safety of the test site, practical exercises are regularly held to repel attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles. In addition, Novaya Zemlya is training specialists in drone control.
Between 1955 and 1990, the test site conducted 130 underwater, atmospheric, and underground nuclear tests. Russia signed the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty but withdrew its ratification in 2023.
Earlier, Bulgarian Military named the carriers of nuclear weapons of the Russian Federation. Among them were submarines of the Yasen-M project, Su-24M aircraft, and Iskander-M OTRK.
