Russian military forces are using the lightweight multi-purpose guided missile Kh-39 LMUR ("Product-305") on the front lines, which successfully strikes enemy fortifications and personnel. The characteristics of the ammunition allow it to evade anti-missile defense systems and fly accurately to the target, noted military expert Evgeny Damantsev.
According to him, the tactics of using these missiles by the crews of Mi-28NM and Ka-52M helicopters remain the same, with preference mainly given to choosing a low-altitude closed firing position outside the direct line of sight relative to the enemy's attacked object.
This is achieved by equipping the LMUR with a thermal homing head, as well as a radio correction module and a command-telemetric control channel, as well as a video image transmission channel in the IR range to the navigator-operator terminal of the rotary-wing machine.
Main technical characteristics of the Kh-39 LMUR:
- Range — 14.5 km
- Missile length — 1.945 m
- Body diameter — 200 mm
- Launch weight — 105 kg
- Missile flight speed — up to 230 m/s
- Warhead — high-explosive fragmentation, weighing 25 kg
