Russian guided gliding actively-rocket aerial bombs 9-A-7759 "Grom-1" with bottom gas generators, as well as their gliding counterparts without bottom boost gas generators "Grom-2" with a combined warhead, continue to be successfully used on the front lines. Military expert Evgeny Damantsev revealed their combat characteristics.
According to him, both modifications of guided gliding bombs can be used both from cabriering and from any flight levels up to 17 - 20 km.
"Grom-1", when launched at an altitude of 10 km at a speed of 1050 km/h, has a range of up to 120 - 130 km thanks to the additional impulse of the bottom boost gas generator. From cabriering from a low-altitude mode — 27 - 35 km.
The gliding guided bomb "Grom-2" has a range when dropped from 10 km at a speed of 1050 km/h up to 60 km, and from low-altitude cabriering — 15 - 18 km.
Both modifications of the product have a combined guidance system based on an INS with an accelerometer, active radar homing heads of the X-band.
