Russian military personnel have deployed a rare modification of the Pantsir anti-aircraft missile system — the Pantsir-S1M — to protect the Crimean Bridge. This was reported by Defence blog, citing Telegram channels and satellite images.
Satellite images confirm that the Pantsir has been on the bridge for at least a month, indicating a long-term strategy to protect this vital route.
The KBP development was presented at the Army forum. This is an export version with an armored cabin mounted on a KamAZ-53958 chassis and painted in desert camouflage.
The Pantsir-S1M boasts several improved tactical and technical characteristics compared to standard models, including increased range and altitude of engagement. It can use two types of missiles, 57E6M-E and 57E6-E.
