The German Air Force claims there were three incidents of intercepting Russian reconnaissance aircraft in August

A German Air Force Eurofighter fighter intercepted a Russian Il-20M military reconnaissance aircraft in the Baltic region. The incident occurred on August 26, but it became known after the German Air Force published relevant interception images. Army Recognition writes about this.

The NATO command and control center, located in Uedem, detected an aircraft flying without a filed flight plan and with transponders turned off. As a result, the German Air Force activated the interception protocol, deploying Eurofighter fighters.

The photo shows the Il-20M, created on the basis of the Il-18, which is in service with the Russian Aerospace Forces. According to Army Recognition, this is the third incident of this kind.

Although many of these flights are conducted in accordance with international rules, they demonstrate how NATO forces and the Russian Aerospace Forces test each other's response capabilities.

Il-20 (NATO codification: Coot) is a Soviet military integrated reconnaissance aircraft. It is equipped with a side-looking radar, cameras, radio reconnaissance and radio interception stations. The aircraft was produced from 1968 to 1976. A total of 19 units were assembled.
