The heavy multiple launch rocket system has a caliber of 300 mm

Belarus is sending a heavy multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) BM-30 Smerch with an effective firing range of 70 km, as well as other artillery, to Russia for joint exercises. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the republic. Defence blog claims that Minsk is transferring weapons to strengthen the Russian Armed Forces at Moscow's request.

The transfer underscores Belarus' dependence on Russian military support, especially in terms of testing and training in the handling of long-range weapons systems, given the lack of large training grounds in Belarus. This step is explained by the fact that Belarus had previously requested Russian assistance to increase its military potential.

According to Defence blog, citing sources in the Ministry of Defense of Belarus, Moscow requested Minsk to transfer military equipment. They claim that the Russian military is facing a shortage of artillery. However, there has been no official confirmation of this information.

The President of Belarus commented on information in foreign media about the possible transfer of troops outside the republic. According to him, he did not give such an order.

We will only fight when they come to us with bad intentions. That's all.
Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus
