The Sollers Group has decided on the final assembly location for the Sollers ST6 pickups, better known in China as the JAC T6. This will be the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant site. With some stretch, the cars can be called a Russian copy of Toyota. They will be assembled from November.
Production Plan and Plant Modernization
In the future, it is planned to produce 8-10 thousand ST6 and ST8 cars per year.
According to him, the plant in Ulyanovsk will be modernized. The authorities will spend 1.5 billion rubles on this. Next year, the company will produce control units, belts, airbags and steering wheels.
Russian copy of Toyota with Chinese roots
The JAC T6 and JAC T8 pickups (it will also be assembled in Ulyanovsk under the name Sollers ST8) are built on a copy of the Toyota Hilux platform (AN10, AN10, AN30). But that's not all. The front suspension of the cars and part of the frame are unified with the Land Cruiser Prado. Thus, the cars can be called a Russian copy of Toyota with a stretch. The main thing is that there is demand for SUVs.
