AvtoVAZ is gradually starting to implement plans to create twelve new car models, which were announced at the end of 2023. The automotive Telegram channel "No Limits", citing its own sources at the enterprise, reported that in parallel with the usual budget models, the concern plans to establish the production of expensive cars.
The first model of the new sub-brand is planned to be a sedan with an extended Lada Aura base. According to sources, it will most likely be named Aura. This will be a completely new direction for the auto business.
AvtoVAZ plans to launch sales of the Lada Aura sedan at the end of September 2024, which has already been stated more than once by representatives of the auto concern and the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. However, AvtoVAZ has not yet officially confirmed the launch of the new Aura sub-brand with the launch of sales of Lada Aura and its serial production.
Lada Aura is a premium sedan designed primarily for officials, who in Russia have been switched exclusively to domestic cars after the decree of President Vladimir Putin. The car is also highly anticipated in corporate fleets and taxi services.
Inside the Lada Aura is a Russian engine, a Chinese variator, and genuine premium leather. But, according to insiders, in the top version, it may receive seats from Aurus, which, for example, have ventilation and massage.
So far, it is produced in small batches in black with a light interior, but in May, AvtoVAZ presented this premium car in a new design.
