The Chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, Anatoly Aksakov, announced that a crypto exchange in Russia may appear before the end of 2024.
According to him, discussions on this issue are actively underway. There is a possibility that the second half of the year will be the moment when the first concrete steps in this direction appear.
Aksakov noted that, first of all, it is necessary to work out the mechanisms of admission and control, as well as ensure confidentiality, in order to avoid possible blockages from opponents of new institutions.
The law on the legalization of cryptocurrency mining, signed by President Vladimir Putin in early August, paves the way for creating law enforcement practices for digital currencies and regulating their issuance and circulation. Earlier, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov announced at the "Territory of Meanings" forum that the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Russia are discussing the creation of crypto exchanges in the country, but have not yet reached a final agreement on this issue.
