At the "Army-2024" forum, Vasily Yelistratov, head of the Department for the Development of Artificial Intelligence Technologies of the Russian Ministry of Defense, stated that Russian AI technologies in some areas are ahead of foreign counterparts.
Yelistratov emphasized that artificial intelligence and intelligent technologies are key elements of modern weapons. Despite the difficult technological state of the entire industry, Russia has managed to make products with elements of artificial intelligence work in the real environments that exist today, he noted.
We see that our technologies in some aspects are even ahead of international standards. This confirms our ability to develop and implement AI in defense systems, which is an important step towards technological independence.
The representative of the Ministry of Defense also added that adapting the software to the real hardware requires additional efforts, but the results are already visible. According to him, taking into account cooperation with partners, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is confident in achieving technological sovereignty in the future.
