The latest Russian BTR-22 armored personnel carrier with the LGS-689 electronic warfare (EW) system and a set of protective screens was presented at the Army-2024 military-technical forum. It will replace the BTR-82A in the Armed Forces.
The developer of the BTR-22 is the "Military-Industrial Company." The novelty is designed to transport personnel of motorized rifle troops to the battlefield and provide fire support, as well as tow trailers and transport military cargo.
The armored personnel carrier's protection reliably shields the combat crew and equipment inside from shells, mine fragments, and small arms fire when moving over rough terrain.
The vehicle's armor is resistant to 12.7-millimeter armor-piercing bullets. The bottom has increased mine protection for the habitable compartment. The combat crew consists of 11 people, with 8 seats in the troop compartment.
