The Russian Aerospace Forces successfully intercepted a modernized MiG-29A aircraft on the front lines using an R-37M air-to-air missile of extra-long range when the fighter attempted to reach the launch lines of AGM-88B Block 3 HARM anti-radar missiles, according to military analyst Evgeny Damantsev.
According to him, the combat vehicle was detected by the onboard radar system "Irbis-E" against the background of the earth's surface at a distance of about 270 km. After that, it was intercepted by the R-37M at a distance of about 220 - 200 km.
The interception of the MiG-29A occurred at a distance of 213 km, which is the standard range of this missile line when launched at low-altitude targets from flight levels of 8500 - 12500 m. The interception range of high-altitude, low-maneuverability targets can reach 280 km, and maneuvering targets — 235 - 250 km.
Damantsev did not specify the air launch vehicle for the R-37M missiles. According to information from open sources, it can be assumed that we are talking about one of the following aircraft: MiG-31BM, Su-57, Su-35S or Su-30SM2, which are capable of carrying and using such weapons.
The Telegram channel @Voevoda clarified that the target was eliminated by the Su-35S crew. The authors emphasized that the destruction of an aircraft from a distance of 213 kilometers is a world record.
Confirmed. Pilot's claim plus objective control. MiG-29 shot down at a range of 213 km. No one in the world can repeat this. No one.
Main technical characteristics of the R-37 missile:

- Launch weight — 600 kg
