The maximum speed of the 9M120-1 ATGM missile reaches 550 m/s

Russian military personnel continue to effectively disable heavy armored vehicles and enemy strongholds with the help of highly mobile self-propelled anti-tank systems 9K132 "Shturm-SM". Promising 9M120-1 ATGMs with radio command and semi-automatic laser-beam guidance modules are responsible for defeating the enemy, noted military expert Evgeny Damantsev.

The maximum missile speed reaches 550 m/s, the average trajectory speed is 370 - 400 m/s. Guidance to the target is carried out using a television-thermal imaging sighting system, which provides detection of targets such as enemy armored vehicles up to 6000 m in the daytime, as well as up to 3700 - 4000 m at night.

Damantsev noted that the key advantages of the complex are the low-profile layout, which ensures concealment behind the "screen" of the terrain and reduces the optical signature of the combat vehicle, as well as a speed of up to 60 km/h.

The rate of fire of the complex reaches 4 rounds per minute thanks to the high-performance conveyor system for feeding 9M120-1 ATGMs. However, the armor penetration of the tandem cumulative warhead of the missile is about 900 mm behind dynamic protection, which is less than that of the 9M133M-2 ATGM of the Kornet complex - 1300 mm.
