In the first half of 2024, Yandex recorded a sharp increase in the number of unwanted calls. The company's caller ID processed 785 million calls from unknown numbers, of which 444 million (about 60%) were unwanted.
According to Yandex, this is 25% more than a year earlier. Of the unwanted calls, 35.5 million were blocked for users who had enabled the corresponding function.
Increased:
- Advertising of various companies' services — by 32%
- Unwanted calls from insurance companies — by 77%
- Calls from scammers — by 4%
- Survey calls from mobile operators — by 60%
Decreased:
- Advertising calls for non-bank financial services — by 38%
- Marketing offers from telecom operators — by 26%
Unwanted calls from banks on Mondays increased by 50%. In turn, scammers became more active in calling on Sundays and Mondays — an increase of 23% and 20%, respectively.
The automatic caller ID is available in the Yandex application with the Alice voice assistant.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that demand for cloud storage with Russian registration increased by a third in 2024. Yandex's service turned out to be the leader.
