The Russian Armed Forces have begun to receive Lebedev compact pistols (PLC, developed by the "Izhevsk Mechanical Plant", which is part of the Kalashnikov concern). These pistols turned out to be better than Western models of individual weapons. This opinion was expressed by the head of the Center for the Study of Military and Political Conflicts, Andrei Klintsevich.
Officers who have worked with "Glocks" say that our pistol is ahead of it in comfort and everything else.
He also recalled that the State Duma adopted a bill on a simplified procedure for transferring confiscated and unclaimed weapons to the troops. Russian soldiers are most interested in smoothbore weapons for shooting down UAVs of various types.
Smoothbore will make it possible to shoot with special cartridges. This is an expanding web of Kevlar threads that will definitely knock down a drone. They get tangled in the screws — unlike buckshot, which can pierce a UAV.
At the same time, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation will continue to purchase "Vepr" and "Saiga" rifles. This is important, because it is necessary to focus on the physical destruction of the drone, Klintsevich emphasized. According to him, UAVs are becoming more intelligent: they change polarization, frequencies, and electronic warfare equipment cannot always suppress it. Therefore, it is easier for military personnel to shoot down a drone, the expert summarized.
