The crew of a Russian Su-34NVO fighter jet avoided being hit by a long-range MIM-104D anti-aircraft missile from the American Patriot PAC-2 GEM-T SAM system. This was made possible by the coordinated work of the all-altitude detection radar operator 96L6 with the pilot and navigator of the aircraft, who received accurate data on the speed and altitude parameters of the missile pursuing them, according to the Telegram channel "Russian Weapon".
In this episode, the radar operator issued a recommendation to the pilot to reduce altitude to 300 m to go behind the "screen" of the radio horizon from the radiation pattern of the illuminating MRLS AN/MPQ-53 of the Patriot PC-2 battery.
As a result of the skillful maneuvers of the Russian pilots, the MIM-104D missile expended all its kinetic energy on maneuvering and reduced its speed to 1400 - 1350 km/h, after which it detonated several hundred meters from the aircraft.
The aircraft successfully avoided interception with minor damage to the antenna modules for communication and data exchange, which were quickly restored at the deployment airfield.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation showed unique footage of the use of Vikhr supersonic missiles from Ka-52 helicopters. These munitions are effective at any time of day and in difficult weather conditions.
