Uralvagonzavod (part of Rostec) has delivered a fresh batch of the latest highly protected T-90M Proryv tanks to the Russian Armed Forces in the amount of up to two companies. Repair battalion forces on the front lines will retrofit the equipment with Groza or Saniya electronic warfare complexes, as well as anti-drone "visors," the Telegram channel Russian Weapon reported.
Military expert Evgeny Damantsev noted that one of the key features of tanks with the Kalina fire control system, in addition to the Sosna-U multi-channel gunner sights, is a panoramic commander's sight with a thermal imaging channel.
The commander has the ability to conduct infrared reconnaissance of the target area for heat-contrast targets at night at a distance of up to 4500 - 5000 m without the need to bring the turret projection sector into the line of sight.
Damantsev noted that the issue of early infrared reconnaissance for tanks in combat is mainly solved by drones equipped with thermal imaging modules.
The main elements of the Kalina system also include an automatic target tracking system, a combat information and control system unit of the tactical level, a software and hardware complex for tactical interaction, control equipment for the TShU-1-2M aerosol and smoke screen system, and an "Identification friend or foe" system.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense showed unique footage of the use of Vikhr supersonic missiles from Ka-52 helicopters. These munitions are effective at any time of the day and in difficult weather conditions.
