A detachment of Pacific Fleet corvettes conducted exercises in the Sea of Japan on their way home after joint Russian-Chinese exercises "Naval Interaction — 2024" and joint patrols in the Asia-Pacific region (APR).
According to the exercise scenario, the sonar crew of one of the corvettes detected a submarine of a mock enemy. Then all three ships practiced searching for and tracking the submarine, and its crew was offered a peaceful way out of the situation.
After refusing to surface, the commander of the detachment decided that the combat crews of the three corvettes, in a joint action, conditionally destroyed an unidentified submarine, using RBU-6000 rocket launchers and torpedo weapons. The exercise was conducted in accordance with the activity plan of the Pacific Fleet corvette detachment in the APR.
Earlier in 2024, these corvettes had already conducted exercises in the Sea of Japan, practicing the destruction of mines and mock enemy ships.
Both "Sovershennyy", "Rezkiy", and "Gromkiy" belong to Project 20380, developed by the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau. "Sovershennyy" is the lead ship of this project.
The multipurpose patrol ships of Project 20380 are designed to perform various tasks in the coastal zone: from combating enemy surface ships and submarines to supporting amphibious operations. They have good maneuverability and an impressive arsenal — each has anti-ship missiles, artillery mounts, anti-submarine weapons, and a helicopter on board.
