The range of FAB application can be increased to 100-150 km thanks to turbojet engines

Russian engineers continue to modernize universal planning and correction modules (UMPC) for equipping FAB-250M-62, FAB-250/270, FAB-500M-54/62, FAB-1500/3000, and ODAB-1500 aerial bombs. Thanks to new technical solutions, the projectile's flight range can be increased to 150 km, according to the Telegram channel @RussianArms.

The authors of the material pointed out that a key step is to increase the planning range of the products. This can be achieved by equipping the modules with small-sized R-95-300 turbojet engines or high-impulse solid-propellant booster engines. They are capable of providing an initial projectile speed of up to 1000 km/h within 3-5 minutes of operation.

Thanks to this improvement, the estimated range of the FAB can be increased to 100 - 150 km, which will take the drop lines of planning modifications of aerial bombs with UMPC beyond the range of anti-aircraft missile systems  SAMP-T and S-300PS.
