The "Teledroid" will have a number of excellent characteristics. This was told to journalists at INNOPROM by representatives of the developing company.
We are now creating a space robot, the project is called "Teledroid." [...] It will have an upper executive system with grippers, with a head module like a human. It will be controlled from inside the ISS, although the robot itself will be outside the ISS, that is, it is being created for space flight conditions, that is, vacuum and the corresponding temperature, and also the radiation that is present.
This joint project of the company and RSC Energia became known back in 2020. It was assumed that the robotic anthropomorphic multifunctional system "Teledroid" would help cosmonauts in extravehicular activity on the ISS. Control was provided in two versions: with the help of an operator located in the State Corporation ISS and with the help of an operator from the control center on Earth.
By the end of 2023, as the management of "Android Technology" noted in a conversation with "TASS" in May 2023, a fully functional model of the robot should have been developed. It could be sent for testing in conditions close to space.
There are very few imported [components], because import independence is a key factor for us in this situation. At the same time, it must be taken into account that Russian component suppliers are also very dependent on imported technologies, so there are failures that need to be resolved quickly.
However, such a model is not yet ready and has not been presented. It is not yet known whether "Teledroid" will work with the ROS.
It is worth noting that recently the developers of "Android Technology" conducted successful tests of another of their space ideas. The anthropomorphic lunar rover robot completed all tasks together with the cosmonauts.
