The unique SIRIUS 2024 experiment, in which a universal android robot on a mobile platform from the Magnitogorsk NPO "Android Technology" participated, has been completed at the Yu. A. Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center. It tested its operation on the surface of the Moon and showed how suitable its technologies are for long planetary work outside the Earth. Real astronauts also took part in the space mission simulation experiment.
This landing operation was divided into two stages. In the first stage, the crew members simulated landing on the surface in small groups and performed a series of necessary tests "on the Moon". The second stage of research was carried out using a universal anthropomorphic robot on a mobile platform developed by NPO "Android Technology". During the experiment, cosmonauts and researchers studied the possibilities of controlling the robot remotely, as well as developed methods of interaction between the robot and the spacecraft crew.
The robot successfully coped with microgravity conditions, performed complex manipulations using special equipment, and passed testing of automation and self-learning systems.
This is a "relative" of the FEDOR android robot, which was also developed at Android Technology. During the SOYUZ-F project, FEDOR became the world's first robot cosmonaut to complete a full cycle of space flight in August 2019. He completed the planned scientific program and safely returned to Earth. The groundwork on the SOYUZ-F line formed the basis of the lunar rover robot.
It is noteworthy that Russia was not alone in testing the new lunar rover robot. It is known that the experiment "was carried out within the framework of international cooperation with the participation of specialists from various countries". But which of the states took part in it is not specified, as well as whether these were partners in the International Scientific Lunar Station project, which will start operating by 2036.
