The joint Russian-Indian venture Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited (founded by Rosoboronexport and Kalashnikov Concern), located in India, has produced and delivered 35,000 Kalashnikov AK-203 assault rifles to the country's Ministry of Defense.
The AK-203 is a version of the AK-200 assault rifle chambered for the 7.62×39 mm cartridge used by the Indian Armed Forces. The weapon is known for its reliability and ease of maintenance.
According to the head of Rostec State Corporation, Sergey Chemezov, India is the first foreign partner to produce the "two hundred" series of AKs.
The project includes technology transfer, and its concept is based on 100% localization of AK-203 production. Such programs are one of the trends in the modern arms market and a competitive advantage for Russia.
India produces AK-203 assault rifles in compliance with exclusive Russian technologies on certified equipment. Thanks to this, the products meet the stated characteristics.
To increase the degree of localization, all the necessary equipment has been shipped to the Korwa Ordnance Factory in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, and the production facilities have been fully equipped.
