The Russian developer and manufacturer of electronics Yadro (part of ICS Holding) plans to introduce a tablet based on its own processor based on the RISC-V architecture in 2025, according to Dmitry Cherkasov, head of Yadro Client Systems.
We have already received the first prototype of our own processor based on the RISC-V architecture.
He emphasized that this is an architecture independent of Intel and ARM. The flagship Kvadra_T tablet, which is currently produced on a chip with an architecture licensed by ARM, will receive the processor.
Sales of Kvadra_T from Yadro started in the spring of 2024. The tablet runs on the KvadraOS mobile OS. Its cost is about 40 thousand rubles.
One of the experts in the microelectronics market said that the creation of the processor will require up to 4 billion rubles. He stressed that this is not only a costly but also a laborious process.
It will be difficult to produce such a processor the first time.
