The use of new products will increase the efficiency of generating equipment

«EG5» electric machine brushes from the «Ruselectronics» holding should replace foreign analogues in turbogenerators of power plants. It is expected that domestic components will increase the efficiency of equipment. They were developed by the Research Institute of Electrocarbon Products as part of the holding.

Electric machine brushes are sliding electrical contacts that conduct current between stationary and moving parts of various electrical devices. They are mainly made of graphite. These parts are used to supply current to the moving components of electric motors, generators, trolleybus current collectors, trams, electric locomotives, and power plant equipment.

To replace imported products, scientists have improved the characteristics of the product.

Low resistivity and a small coefficient of friction make the developed brushes more reliable and efficient compared to existing Russian and foreign models. At the moment, there are no products on the market that have similar characteristics, which will not only replace hard-to-reach foreign components, but also increase the efficiency of equipment. In the near future, we plan to begin testing the developed samples.

At the same time, the new electric machine brushes ensure stable operation of turbogenerators at a linear speed of the contact ring of no more than 90 m/s, a current density of no more than 15 A/cm2 and a pressure on the brush of up to 21 kPa. This will allow them to be used in the development of new engines for the fuel and energy complex.
