HIMARS MLRS was caught and destroyed at the «crim scene»

Russian military personnel on the front lines destroyed an American HIMARS multiple launch rocket system immediately after launch with a strike from the Iskander operational-tactical missile complex (OTRK). This was reported by the Telegram channel @The_Wrong_Side.

Air reconnaissance assets helped to identify HIMARS; a drone detected the movement of a rocket launcher in a forest belt. Immediately after the arrival of the «Iskander», a huge pillar of fire rose into the sky at the HIMARS deployment site, indicating the destruction of the system.

Military expert Dmitry Kornev noted that HIMARS needs accurate intelligence information about the coordinates of targets for effective operation. According to him, for modern integrated air defense, missiles of this type of MLRS are not some kind of ¨exotic type of targets¨.

Their ammunition is large, so they are seen by the radars of most modern anti-aircraft missile systems. Russian «Buks», «Tors» and more modern «Pantsirs» and S-400s are capable of shooting down HIMARS missiles.

More than 20 types of ammunition have been created for HIMARS, the firing range of which, depending on the type, can range from 30-80 (in MLRS mode) to 300 or more km (as an operational-tactical missile system).

At the same time, the range of the Russian «Iskander» can reach 500 kilometers. Its arsenal includes both ballistic and cruise missiles, which create false electronic interference on approach to the target. Shells are practically invulnerable to air defense systems. Cruise missiles can travel at extremely low altitudes and bypass terrain.

Earlier, military observer Sergei Ptichkin called the complex complex of electronic warfare and counteraction to missile defense systems the main feature of the «Iskander». In the final section of the trajectory, the missile transitions into a steep dive and hits the target, the deviation from the point of impact does not exceed a meter. This accuracy is ensured by inertial and optical guidance systems.
